Competitions

Star Diving Club attend many competitions around the country each year. We currently have squad divers competing at inter-club, county, regional and national competitions, including the Swim England Diving National Skills Finals, Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships and the Swim England Diving Talent Games.

Where possible we like to take divers away as a team, which involves them travelling and staying together under chaperone and coach supervision. Divers are encouraged to support one another throughout the meet, helping to build team spirit.

Our chaperones are volunteers, having been Swim England-registered with the club initially. Once your registration is in place, Lisa, our administrator, will initiate a DBS check and Fran will provide a voucher for you to attend a Swim England 'Safeguarding In Aquatics' course. Once you have those under your belt, the next step is to attend a Team Manager course (module one, then two).

We rely on parents to step forward to chaperone at 'away' competitions - and the club will fund all pertinent courses. If you would like to volunteer as a chaperone at a future competition, please let Laura, our head coach, know initially - laura@stardiving.org

Diver selections for competitions are made by the head coach. Not everyone in a target squad will be selected to attend a particular meet. Divers will receive an initial notification from Laura. Then it will be followed up nearer to an entry closing date by Fran, our competition secretary.
